In Equal Harmony
Clarinetfest 2019
Saturday, July 27, 2019, 8 am
Lecture Hall, Student Union Building, UTK
Knoxville, TN
Free admission, registration required
Drawing on the positive experience of performing in this ensemble, Lake Effect's
presentation will discuss the many benefits of forming chamber groups in high school, college, and beyond, such as independent part ownership, gracious compromising
and communication, and creative and critical thinking. The group will also talk about the benefits and challenges of playing in ensembles comprised of the same instrument (such as a clarinet quartet), the social and musical advantages of playing in chamber ensembles outside of an education setting (including networking and freelancing), and the skills gained from performing works not originally composed for clarinet quartet. Repertoire will feature arrangements of works by quartet member Erin Miesner, which demonstrate the translation of music from the orchestral,
vocal, piano, string, and wind ensemble genres, and will include an engaging and informative discussion on practical pedagogical and performance applications.
Lake Effect Clarinet Quartet's appearance is sponsored in part by Vandoren
